DOES GOD PUNISH PEOPLE WITH SICKNESS AND DISEASE?
|
Lie #5 - We have to have some disease and sickness because it is God's way of punishing sinners and the
disobedient
As we learned in a previous article, there was permissive and a causitive verbs. God allows what we allow. Go read that
article in the archived section, "God Put's Sickness on Us."
So if we know God does not put disease on people as punishment, then today's question is this: are there some diseases
we have to have because God won't heal them?
The simple answer is NO-NO-NO! I'm just going to show you what I found in Matthew:
Notice how many times it says "ALL." When you use the word "all" that means there is nothing left out. Jesus healed all
sickness and all diseases.
The only time Jesus could not heal people is mentioned in Matthew 13:58 when He was in His hometown. And what
caused Him not to heal? Their unbelief.
So what about the Old Testament? Remember that there were many promises in the Old Testament along with many
curses. When Jesus died on the cross to redeem of from that curse of the Law (Galatians 3:13), He made the curses in
the Old Testament null and void in our lives. The New Testament is simply a better covenant than the Old but we get to
keep the good from the Old Testament, too!
Sometimes we don't understand the King James English and don't realize that we have been redeemed - delivered - set
free - from ALL disease. So if you just check out Deuteronomy 28:15: 15: "But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not
hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command
thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee"
And take every curse listed from verse 15 through verse 68 and realize that THIS is what you've been redeemed from.
These curses are no longer active in your life. So just take the opposite. For instance, take verse 27 and 59:
27. The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch...
59. Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long
continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Botch of Egypt is translated, "ulcer, sores, and boils."
Emerods is translated as "tumors".
Scab is translated "malignant scab, scurvy, eczema, inclurable itch, skin eruptions."
Itch is like having a constant sunburn.
Plague is translated "malignant and obstinate diseases" (sounds like cancer, doesn't it!).
In verse 59, wonderful doesn't mean a good thing; it simply means they are difficult.
Just a simple observation here is that Christ has redeemed us from ulcers, sores, boils, tumors, scabs, scurvy (Vitamin C
deficiency), itches, zits (skin eruptions), eczema, itching, and malignant and obstinate diseases like cancer and tumors!
That's it for this topic of healing. Remember, Jesus died for you to be healed, whole and healthy in every area of your life.
There isn't ONE disease or sickness He didn't provide healing and deliverance for. Isn't that good news!?
