| BEING SAFE IN A DANGEROUS WORLD |
In light of the recent news of the senseless death of a worker at Walmart and the shooting at Toys-R-Us,
many people are concerned how it is possible to be safe anymore. I've got good news for you! God has
made provision for our total safety in an unsafe world.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 states, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set
before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore (you) choose life, that both you and your
descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you
may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days…”
Right there you have the answer – God leaves the choice of life and death, blessing and cursing in OUR
hands; it is our responsibility. Long life is our responsibility.
Proverbs 18:21 gives another clue: Death and life are in the gift of the tongue, those who indulge it
must eat the fruit it yields (NJB). What you speak is so vitally important. You bring into your life blessing
or cursing by the very words you speak habitually.
Job is a perfect example of someone who ate the fruit his mouth (and fear) yielded: Job 3:25, For the
thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I like the
NAB version better: Whatever I fear comes true, whatever I dread befalls me. Job was habitually in fear
over his children. He feared loss and death – and he reaped it.
Fear is an amazing thing. It is the opposite of faith and has the power to draw to you what you fear.
Faith draws to you what you believe God for. And fear actually draws what you believe the devil for. I
didn’t say that, God did!
Satan's job description is given in John 10:10: to steal, kill and destroy. That’s his job and that is all he
does – steal, kill and destroy anything he can get his hands on in our life. He kills relationships, careers,
the calling of God on our life – and our very life. His biggest tool is fear. So when you give into fear, you
believe the devil has power over you even thought Luke 10:19 says we have been given power over ALL
the power of the enemy.
Do you realize that just because you FEEL fear it does not mean you are IN fear? Do you realize that
just because goose bumps crawl up and down your arms and spine, you still do not have to give in to
fear? You can have the hair on your head standing straight up and be shaking in your boots BUT
THOSE ARE JUST SYMPTOMS of fear. Until you give in to those symptoms, you are not IN fear.
So fear of death, mayhem, trouble, and loss is not what we are supposed to be dealing with. How do we
stop it?
The answer to that is to allow the enemy “no place” in our life (Eph. 4:27). By that I mean that we do not
give in to fear – fear opens the door to allowing the enemy into our life. Slam to door on fear. How?
Get into your Bible and filling your mind and spirit with the Word of God on safety, protection and God’s
promises. When fear tries to come, speak up! Speak the Word and speak out “NO devil, you are not
putting that on me! I refuse to fear!”
Revelation 12:11 gives two ways of safety, the Blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. The Blood
of Jesus is powerful enough to overcome any trick of Satan. He has nothing in his bag of tricks that can
stand up against the shed Blood of Jesus. NOTHING! The Blood completed our total victory and any
weapon Satan can think of to form against us is ALREADY defeated (Isa. 54:17).
We apply the Blood to our life by the words of our mouth. Chip Brim (www.champions4christ.org) once
told a congregation how his mother, Billye Brim (www.billyebrim.org) would apply the Blood when he was
in high school. She would say something to the effect of, “I plead the Blood front to back, side to side,
top to bottom, bumper to bumper, moving and non-moving parts over, around and under this vehicle, it's
drivers and passengers. Chip will go out safely and come home safely.”
Another safety device given to us by God are our angels. In the Bible, angels were sent to deliver
people from trouble. Nothing has changed. The angels are still being sent to deliver us from trouble
today. Weymouth's New Testament says of Hebrews 1:14 that angels are sent to “render service for our
benefit.”
The Greek Word for salvation, “soteria” has many meanings but just knowing that rescue and safety are
two of them is all we need to know! We are heirs to rescue and safety, and angels are sent to deliver us
from unsafe conditions.
So we have angels and the Blood - which works by the words of our mouth. Put the Word of God in your
mouth to defeat the enemy. God has given you His Words for a reason. His Word will not return to Him
void (Isa. 55:11). His Word will accomplish what He sent it to do. When God says that no weapon formed
against me will prosper, then I can believe that no weapon formed against me will prosper!
Our testimony is of what God has done for us. We testify that the Word is working in our lives! We speak
what the Word says such as (back to Luke 10:19), “NOTHING SHALL BY ANY MEANS HURT ME!” Isn't
that a great testimony? When we speak that, the angels go to work on our behalf to make sure nothing
shall by any means hurt us.
No matter what happens in the world, you now know how to stay safe in this world. Put your angels to
work daily for protection, verbally place the Blood around your family, property, and life, and keep your
words God's Word!
