" …but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits" (Dan. 11:32b).
Do you want to do great and mighty exploits for God in these end times?
It is hard to focus on the things of God when you are in debt up to your ears. Too many of God's people
are still struggling from paycheck to paycheck, avoiding the telephone, leaving unopened bills on the
desk, and wondering how they are going to keep from losing everything.
They can't find time to focus on the things of God because they are too stressed out just trying to survive.
In the past few years, there have been many anointed teachings, books, articles, tapes, services, and
conventions focusing on getting out of debt. While many people jumped in and began to obey the call to
get debt free, many others felt they had plenty of time.
They felt that with just a little bit more overtime, a different job, a raise, a second job, they could find a way
to bring down the debt (even though statistics say it can take 22 years to pay off an average credit card
debt with minimum payments).
The world's way doesn't work without a price. God says His blessing adds no sorrow (Prov. 10:22). The
blessing of the Lord means you can be home to see your children rather than taking on that second job.
His blessing means you don't work so much overtime your family forgets what you look like. His blessing
means you can give into His Kingdom freely. His blessing adds no sorrow.
If you are like most people, when a minister talks about debt freedom you think, "yeah, yeah, that's all
right for you, but it hasn't happened for me." When I heard stories of people who claimed, "God made me
debt-free in 18 months and I don't have any idea how He did it" I would think, "how can that be?"
Then it happened to us.
My husband and I determined in 1997 to become debt free. We couldn't do much at that time except
decide never to charge anything again and cut up the credit cards! Even though it was a good start, we
made little progress.
Then in 1998, my husband was laid off and we got behind on several payments. It began to look bleak.
There was talk of repossessing the two automobiles, and the house was threatened with foreclosure.
The first thing we did was ask God to show us any areas we needed to "clean up" or where we might have
been disobedient. He did. We opened a savings account and set up a family budget so we would know
where our money was going. We discovered there were many little things that spoiled our work of debt
reduction (see Song of Solomon 2:15).
We stood on the Word and reminded God often that we were tithers and gave offerings (Isa. 43:26). God
gave us favor with credit card companies; one even stopped the interest payments for 6 months so we
could catch up. God put my husband in a job position where we could afford to pay double car note
payments and triple house note payments, and still have money to put into savings.
We know the power of partnership. By partnering with ministries God hooks us up with, we gained wisdom,
knowledge, revelation, benefits, blessing, and good old fashioned "how to." We listened to debt freedom
tapes, watched videos, and studied with our partners on daily television. We studied tapes and books
from ministries we trusted to tell us the truth.
You might visit www.cfaith.com. Cfaith.com has a library of articles on all sorts of topics by the most
powerful Word teachers and preachers of our generation. We can't afford not to take advantage of this
powerful end-time tool! And it's available to everyone around the world.
We applied the principles we learned and inched our way forward out of debt. Slowly, debts began to fall
by the wayside. In 1999, God enabled us to take care of $17,250 of debt in only eight months. We did
everything we could in the natural realm such as making those extra payments and working with a non-
profit debt reduction organization.
We were able to continue giving offerings to our partners. In 2000, God took care of $15,000 of debt in 12
months. Then a new debt would appear such as a $2,500 hospital bill. God gave us favor with the
hospital, but it still was a step backward rather than forward.
Still, we realized that something was missing from our debt freedom plan. It wasn't enough. We weren't
making any progress at all in the credit card debts.
One of our partners is Creflo Dollar Ministries (www.creflodollarministries.org) . In 1999, we heard our first
sermon on the First Fruit Offering. After catching just a short bit of this sermon on TBN satellite television,
we called the ministry and ordered the video tapes.
Of course, our first reaction was "WHAT? Another offering?" which we quickly rebuked. We watched the
tapes over and over until we felt we understood and had the revelation of the first fruit offering. It was new
to us but we trusted our man of God. By April 2000, we were ready to begin giving first fruit offerings.
You may think, "How can they afford tapes or books when they're in debt up to their ears?" You will find a
way. When you become desperate to change what is going on in your life, you will find a way. Give up the
special coffees, pack a lunch, but whatever you do, invest in your future by investing in anointed teaching
on debt freedom.
It is wisdom to take advantage of people God has given debt freedom revelation to. Study, study, study.
The more you expose yourself to the Word in the area of debt freedom, the stronger you will walk in that
knowledge.
It is hard to say how God did what He did. It is as if debt reduction went into warp speed once we began
giving first fruit offerings on the first of our increase. I am not going to explain all the details here, but in
fewer than nine months (including a three month lay-off) God took the rest of our debt of over $18,500
and wiped it out.
I became one of those people who can say, "I don't know exactly how He did it, I just know He did!" In
only three years, God enabled us to wipe out $50,312.65 of debt! Praise Him!
You will never be effective for the Kingdom of God until you are debt free. Your time is not your own if you
spend it trying to figure out how to stretch what little you have into debt payments.
Your sleep is affected as you lay in bed worrying about debt. You cannot give offerings into good-ground
ministries (which is a must), and for some it has affected your tithe…not to mention your relationships.
You begin to resent taking that money to church rather than putting it toward debt. The next thing you
know, you are not tithing anymore, rationalizing that you'll "catch up" later. No, you won't. You will get into
more financial trouble than you can ever imagine.
You cannot get debt free quickly without supernatural help—trusting in, relying on, and obeying God.
What He tells you to do, do it. There is, for the most part, no "instant money." Many people are waiting for
money to fall out of the sky onto their heads.
Sorry that’s not going to happen. There is no instant, easy cure.
You will have to put the flesh under, budget, and make the payments. Then when God gives you favor
with companies (because you asked) and they accept anywhere from 50 percent to 80 percent of the
amount due as final payment, you can get out of debt.
But it takes God's help. You most likely cannot (and will not) do it on your own, because if that were
possible, you would have done it by now, right?
It takes obedience, it takes faithfulness, it takes a supernatural debt-free anointing…and it takes God.
