Jesus gave us:

1 – power (authority, force, ability, mastery, jurisdiction) over unclean (foul) spirits, to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease,

2 – power (ability) to heal sicknesses, and to cast out (expel) devils:

3 – power (mastery) over unclean spirits;

4 – power (force) and authority (ability) over all devils, and to cure (heal) diseases.

5 – power (ability, force, competency, mastery) to tread (trample) on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power (forces) of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (you will remain completely unharmed).

So here we are as God’s people, with ALL this power, authority, ability, force, mastery, jurisdiction, and competency over ALL the forces & power of the enemy. We know the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy everything good in our life and that Jesus came to bring us an abundant, rich and satisfying life.

So why is it then that you can barely tell the difference in those who serve God and those who don’t? Like someone pulled the plug on your power?

Christians are just as sick (or sicker) than the non-believers. They are as broke, busted and disgusted. They have marriage problems, the same 50% divorce rate statistic, kids out in the world, not enough money to pay their bills, driving beat up, cheap, old cars with 2 good tires and 2 faith tires, and the only praying they do is to get by until the next payday.

Why do they battle the same sickness, disease, problems, sins, and financial burdens that people of the world (non-Christians) do? They do not know their authority.

How do you operate in the authority God has given you through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross?

Let’s take sickness and disease for an example. Find and read scriptures that talk about Jesus going around and healing everyone of every disease. Realize that Jesus paid for your healing – for you to be healed today – on the cross.

Your authority is to stand on the promise of that healing that Jesus paid for and quit letting the devil try to steal your healing away from you. Get an understanding that you are NOT the sick trying to get healed. You are “the healed” and the devil is coming to destroy that by bringing you sickness and trying to get you to accept it.

THAT SICKNESS DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU. It is not yours, it is the devils. Quit accepting it. Give it back to him in your authority to do so (oh, and never, ever say “MY” sickness. Don’t personalize it.).

Release your authority from your mouth. Say, “I refuse to accept this sickness and disease! I just read in the Bible that healing is mine. The devil is not going to steal it from me. No one is going to talk me out of it. It belongs to me. Today, right now, I receive my healing!”

Then don’t back off. Once you’ve said that, don’t ever say anything contrary to it. Don’t be moved by time or symptoms (or friends talking and questioning).

When the devil comes back to whisper in your ear, “You are going to die! You’re not going to get your healing” laugh at him and say, “Too late! I’ve already gotten it. I received my healing last week. It’s mine and you can’t steal it.”

Just refuse to give up, keep on taking the land and your healing will come to pass.
So what are you waiting for? Stand in your authority and power, and begin to receive the very benefits Jesus died for you to have!

Do you like where you are in life right now?
Are you happy with the way things are going?
Or do you wish you could be living in a better place in your finances? Health? Relationships? Employment?

Leland and I are living the best place we’ve ever lived in our lives. We are walking in our dreams and God has been very good to us.

Now before you go thinking I’m bragging or taking the credit here – FORGET THAT! All the glory goes to God. All the credit, all the reason we are where we are, and all the honor goes to God. Without Him, we wouldn’t be able to get out of town, much less get debts paid off.

The only reason God is able to bless us is faith. Not that we are so faith-perfect but that faith opens to door for God to have access into our life. He wants to be able to remove any burdens and destroy those yokes. Most important of all is that he desires to make us a walking testimony – a display – of His desire to bless people and prosper them. He wants you to live well so that others may know His goodness.

It is impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6). And for faith to work, it has to be in two places – our heart and our mouth (Romans 10:8).

Let’s look at Romans 10:10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness (right standing with God); and with (his own) the mouth confession is made unto salvation” and think of it as only a “get saved” or “going to heaven” – you cut off all the meanings of the word – most especially heal, preserve, do well (to), be (make) whole.

So how about inserting those other meanings for the word salvation? “For with the heart, man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth, confession is made unto healing.” Or, “confession is made unto doing well” or “confession is made unto being made whole in every area of life.”

In other words, what you believe (deep down) is in your heart, then you speak what you believe out of your mouth (for good or for bad; it works in the reverse, too).

Why are Leland and I walking in the best times of our life? Not because we’re so perfect or great but because God is. Because God said in His word that He takes pleasure in my prosperity (Psalm 35:27). Because God said in His word that He wants me NOT to forget His benefits to me (Psalm 103) such as:

He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies
He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s

Stop and realize that you are already living the results of the words of your mouth. If you don’t like those results, change what you are saying. (Matthew 12:34)

Remember, faith won’t even work for you if you don’t release it with the words of your mouth. If you say nothing, you receive nothing. If you speak God’s Word, you will receive what He promised. And He promised us everything we need to prosper in and enjoy this life here on earth!

So many times we want to blame God for the results of bad choices we make.  Time and time again, we choose a wrong pathway, and when we hit a brick wall or something goes terribly wrong, we cry, “Why God? Why did this happen to me? Why did YOU do this to me?”

Wrong question.  The first and most important thing is to always stay on God’s side.  Never choose against God by blaming Him for your choices.  The right question is, “How did I get here, how do I get out, and how to I make sure I never chose this wrong pathway again?  Please show me.”

The Bible is very clear.  Our life is a test and it is an open book test.  God sets before you the choices – life and death, blessing and cursing.  Then He gives you a big hint when he says, “Choose life.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)

What does it mean to choose life?  It means to choose His ways of doing and being right.  Choose His ways of living.  Choose His way of doing things.  He has given us everything we need in this live a good life.  He even explains what He expects from us.  But unless you spend time with Him and in His Word, you’ll never know how to choose life and blessing even though it is readily available to you.

He has even given us an “early warning system” when we are making bad choices (1 John 2:20; the Holy Spirit).  We usually can’t hear that warning because we are too caught up in our busy life or haven’t learned how to tune into God.  He won’t beat you over the head although He tries always to send messages.  I’ve looked back on my life and seen so many times where I skipped over warnings because I didn’t see them as warnings.

We rarely take advantage of everything God has given us to live a victorious life.  Why?  Because we don’t take the time to learn how He operates and what He expects from us.  Often we don’t even believe it is our responsibility to do anything.  Many Christians are sitting back ‘waiting on God” when He is expecting them to take control of their present and future through the words of their mouths.

He says that our death or our life – the choice of blessing or curses – is in our mouth – what we speak consistently (Proverbs 18:21).  Do you realize there are no grey areas with God and life?  Everything we choose to say or do falls either on the blessing side or the curses side.  There is no grey area – no “oh God understands. He knew what I meant”.  No, He doesn’t.  He only knows you chose cursing instead of blessing, which opened the door to the enemy.

That’s all I’m leaving you with this week – there are a lot of archived messages on the website about your mouth and your choices.  I just wanted to plant the thought into you that you should begin to think twice before saying anything contrary to the Word – anything contrary to the blessing.

If it comes to “steal, kill and destroy your life”, it isn’t God (John 10:10).  Don’t choose it.  If you are living results of a life that has had things stolen, killed or destroyed – your future, your present, your dreams – ask God where you got off and to help you get back on the right pathway to the good life – to the life of blessing.  He will.  He desires to bless us and to help keep us out of the curses of life.

There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle

**************************************

Have you ever found yourself acting in a way that surprises you?  Maybe doing or wanting to do something you used to do before you were saved?  Or acting like a total heathen, yelling, throwing things, and pouting?  No, I didn’t think so – me, neither!!  But some Christians still struggle with things like that.

As Christians we might hear someone say, “But you don’t know what I’ve done” when thinking about their past before they met Jesus. They are focused on guilt and often can’t get past the memory of how bad they think they were because of that guilt.  They don’t realize their old man and everything he did, died, is buried, is gone in God’s eyes.  Everything.

The Bible says that our old man (the way we used to be before we were saved) was crucified with Jesus so that we are no longer slaves of sin and no longer have to act like that old man we were.  It also says that while we have put off the old man with his deeds, we ALSO have put on the NEW man.

This is where most Christians miss it.  Many of us keep acting like the old man got out of the grave and is still bossing us around, and we can’t figure out why.

Bottom line:  YOU put on that new man.  You do that when you renew your mind by learning to be like the image of God.  The Living Bible translation says it best:  “You are living a brand new kind of life that is continually learning more and more of what is right, and trying constantly to be more and more like Christ who created this new life within you.”

If we never crack open our Bible, read it and apply it after the day we make Jesus our Lord and Savior, our old man will keep getting out of his grave and telling us what to do and how to act – and we’ll listen to him!  We’ll constantly try to walk right and constantly blow it.

Next time the devil comes around and whispers in your ear that you are a terrible Christian and you’ll never act right, do two things:

  1. Remind the devil when your old man died** and that the old man is not bossing you around anymore – and
  2. Get into your Bible, continually renew the way you think and act so that you think and act more and more like Jesus!

Ding dong the old man’s dead – which old man?  Our bad old man!  Ding dog the old man is quite dead!  (I loved The Wizard of Oz!)

Anyone who thinks sitting in church can make you a Christian
must also think that sitting in a garage can make you a car.
–Garrison Keillor–

—————————————————————

For the past several years, I have been studying and researching healthy life style alternatives, healthy foods, longevity, and things to do to live long and strong.  It is been an eye-opening experience.

A couple of years ago, Leland decided to cut extra sugar out of his life.  We began reading labels on everything we ate.  Imagine our total surprise and outrage to discover that sugar is in almost EVERYTHING we eat including our meal replacement drink!?!   Even in that special cereal (K) that is supposed to help us eat healthy and lose weight, sugar is the #2 ingredient.

Sugar was in everything from horseradish sauce to tasteless cereal purporting to be healthy for us because they go to great extremes to find special ingredients to make it good for you.  You know, those ingredients like brown rice syrup and cane syrup that tend to sound healthy but are just another form of sugar?  Did you know that most brown sugar for sale in supermarkets is simply refined sugar with molasses added to it?  I didn’t.

So here I am after years of studying about healthy lifestyles, what to eat, longevity, exercise, anti-oxidants, etc., and I am chock full of information.  I am overloaded and well-versed in things I need to change, apply and do, and still discovering areas that need to be changed.  I know all sorts of amazing facts and have great knowledge about anti-aging, health, and longevity.

I have information overload.  Just like many Christians!

What do I mean by that?  Information is not the same thing as action.  We can study the Bible and read faith-based books designed to build up our faith to extreme levels.  We can have faith-based magazines coming into our homes by the truckload.  We own videos, cassettes, CD’s, DVD ‘s, and several shelves of faith-based books.  Our minds are stuffed full of information about the goodness of God.

BUT! Just like longevity and health information, until that information becomes revelation and we DO SOMETHING WITH IT, it is just useless facts sitting in our brain.  It does us no good until we apply it to our lives.  Talk is not cheap – talk can destroy our lives.  We need to quit talking and start doing!

So the next time we read a scripture such as John 13:34, “…love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another;” let’s stop and ask ourselves, “How can I apply this to my life in a way I’m not doing now?”  We are commanded to love others so look for ways to love other people, especially the ones we deem hard to love – you know – that ornery co-worker who knows it all or that ex-whatever who, the very thought of, still makes you clench your jaw.

Until we apply what we learn, we just have tidbits of information that lead to no life-changing actions.  We will wonder why we are living a defeated life and look to blame everyone but ourselves.  Until we DO we simply know and don’t change.

I KNOW if I don’t DO that treadmill, my body won’t CHANGE.  So if I KNOW AND DO, then I will CHANGE!
