There are some pretty powerful promises in the Bible about loving God (and Jesus).
There is a promise of deliverance. From what? From anything you need delivering from - sickness, disease, poverty,
lack, want, etc. Just love Him.
Not only will you find God every time you look for Him, but you will prosper. He promised "to endow with wealth those
who love me and fill their treasuries" (CJB). Right there you have everything you need to function and prosper in this
life.
These are just a few of the scriptures that connect loving God with being Blessed. So how on earth can we show God
we love Him? It certainly isn't by words. Millions of people say, "I love God" and don't even know Him. People talk the
talk, but they don't walk the walk.
So let's look to the Bible and see what it says about loving God:
The Bible is the written Word of God. I think it is safe to say that if you love God and Jesus, then you will read your
Bible, find out what it says to do, how to operate in this life, how He expects you to walk, then do it.
To me this implies that there is something more given to those who obey His Word. Something above the ordinary.
Something most Christians never experience - Him showing Himself to you. So many times people want to see more of
God in their lives. They lay on the carpet crying out to God, "Oh God, show yourself to me. I want more of You, God!
I want to see more of You!"
Those people usually do not see any changes in their lives by crying and begging God. Why? Because that is NOT
what the Bible says to do if you want God to show Himself to you. It say, "Obey His Word." It says, "Do what I've told
you to do." It says, "Keep My commandments (teachings)!"
It says, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you ." (John
15:7)
What? We can ask for what we want and we will get it? Yes. Want it even more clear? Abide simply means, "stay (in
expectancy), continue in, dwell, be present."
Here is the Easy to Read version of that scripture:
Remember, God never said anything He didn't mean. He never said things will happen that were not exactly what He
meant to happen. If He says, "Stay hooked up with Me. Do what I tell you to do. Do that and you can ask for anything
you want and it WILL be given to you." then that statement is true.
IF you love God and Jesus, THEN you will read your Bible, find out what the scriptures/teachings/commandments tell
you to do (forgive everyone, walk in love toward all, tithe, give, obey, etc.) then DO them.
Those who love God don't just say it. they spend time with Him, find out what He has to say, then do what He says to
do. Those who love God can rest assured the promises He made to those who love him will come true in their lives!
Next time you say, "I love God" you will be telling the truth because you do what He commands you to do! You obey
His Word.
