JoyUs Musing Edition #11-16
|
There are times that, when I need a healing, I will spend a little extra time listening to CDs or reading specific books or
scriptures on healing. I think of it as taking time to take my medicine.
Then there are times all of us might need more - we need a miracle. It could be anything from healing to finances or
relationship fixes. Sometimes it requires putting in a bit more effort than we often put in when it comes to God. It
requires us to separate ourselves.
Most of us are willing to read a quick 2 minute devotional in the morning - maybe. Some of us *might* be willing to
listen to a CD in the car on the way to work. Maybe watch Word online or on television. Occasionally we might pick up
a faith-based book and peruse it - skim through it looking for the good parts - the ones that will "fix" what we need fixed!
Rarely are we willing to put in a lot of time in the Word and in God's presence to get what we need. We might go to a
counselor an hour a week when we're stressed. We go to the doctor and then take the prescribed medicine faithfully 4
times a day. But spend more time in the Word than we have been? Why that's just too fanatical!
If we want change, we have to be willing to change - change what we've been doing. Separate yourself from the world
and spend a lot of time with God.
No 2 minute devotional once a day is going to change your life in a big way. It is better than nothing but it is not
enough if you need real help.
Books, CD 's, DVD 's, live television - are all good. But occasional use is not enough.
Unless you are willing to concentrate on that Word - spend a lot of uninterrupted time in it - you won't have much
permanent change. If you are desperate for healing or a financial miracle - the more time you spend in the Bible in
that area that you need help in, the easier and easier it will be for you to believe and receive.
Another thing you will have to do if you need a miracle is to be willing to literally separate yourself from people who do
not speak faith consistently. You can't afford to be around anyone - family, friends, or mouthy co-workers - who does
not believe. You can't afford to be around negative people. You can't spend time with unbelievers or naysayers.
Take vacation time if you need to but get away by yourself with God, the Bible, a pen and notebook, and prayer.
Faith-based books and teaching CDs on the topic you are believing God for are good, too. Keep Word flowing into
your ears and eyes all day if you can!
If you are in dire need of a miracle then you need to be willing to do what it takes to protect your Spirit - watch who you
are around; watch what you watch and read; watch everything around you that affects you. Get rid of or stay away
from everything and everyone that will not help you or build your faith up.
Are you willing? Everything you do, have, are around, listen to, and watch will either be negative or positive - live and
death. Choose life.
