Can you actually see yourself thanking God for the curse?  This week we are going to deal with the
belief that we are to thank God for all the things that happen to us, bad or good.  It is a belief based on
a couple of scriptures -

Ephesians 5:20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ;
1 Thessalonians 5:18.  In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning
you.

We have been taught that we are to thank God for everything that happens to us.  It goes hand in hand
with last week's teaching that all things that happen will work out for our good.

Let's take 1 Thessalonians first - notice that this scripture tells us to give thanks in all circumstances,
not for all circumstances. When tragedy or temptation strikes, God doesn't want us to thank Him for
them. He's not the one who brings trouble to us.  God is the One Who provides a way to escape from it
and that's what we thank Him for.

It doesn't even make sense to thank God for what the devil is doing yet Christians do it all the time.
When they are the midst of a trial and don't take authority over that trial, they allow the enemy to walk
all over them, all the time thinking God is in that trial teaching them something and blaming Him for the
trial.  And they believe hopefully, that the trouble will not only work out for their good, but maybe
someday that trouble will be over.

Thanking God for trouble is as wrong as a sick child going to his parents and saying, "Mom, Dad, thank
you for these measles.  I know I am going to learn great things from all this scratching and scarring so
don't take me to the doctor for medicine, OK?"  Sounds pretty dumb, doesn't it?  It is dumb, and it is
highly insulting to thank God for something the devil has done, especially when God made a way of
escape.*

Ephesians 5:20 really confuses people because it actually looks like it states in the King James version
that we are to "give thanks always for all things."  The problem with this is that people stop with those 6
words and don't go any further.  They've made a religious tradition out of 6 words without rightly
dividing the Word of truth in their studies.

The very next two words in King James say, "unto God."  You give thanks for all things that are UNTO
GOD - things God does and says.  Not all things that happen to us are the will of God.  Sickness,
disease, fear, torment, and pain come; the scriptures declare that these come from the thief, the devil.

If you read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you'll find that Jesus never gave thanks for sickness or
death. Instead, He overcame them with God's power.  So give thanks the way Jesus gave thanks - not
for the trouble Satan brings, but for the victory God has given you over it!

Thank God that the spirit of poverty cannot stay in your house.  Thank Him that He will supply your
family with everything they need.  Find scriptures that promise He will take care of you and quote them.
Thank Him that when you rely on Him, He won't let you down.

Thank Him for His deliverance from the bad doctor report, sickness or disease.  Dig in your Bible and
find all the scriptures on healing - quote them and thank God for them manifesting in your life.

NEVER thank God for any tragedy or loss in your life.  That is a curse and the curse is never His Will.
Everything under the curse is NOT His will (Deut. 28:15 forward).  The Blessing is ours, healing is ours,
prosperity is ours, peace is ours, deliverance is ours, provision is ours, etc., and that is what you thank
God for.

1 Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
2 Cor 2:14  Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ...
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call to witness against you today - the heavens and the earth, that life and death I have set in front
of you, the blessing and the curse.  Therefore, choose life, so that you may live, you and your seed
