James 4:7 is one of my favorite scriptures, "Therefore submit to God (and His Word). Resist the devil and he
will flee from you."
The word "flee" is fascinating - it is such a tiny word but it embodies a huge act that is in our favor!
That tiny word means: to run away; to shun; to vanish. So how do you make the devil vanish - to run away
from you - to actually shun you?
When you take the words and study them out, going back to the original meaning, this is what you get:
Obey God (by submitting yourself to His Word and doing what it says to do), stand against, withstand, and
oppose the devil and his suggestions, and he will run away from you (in stark terror).
Just say NO.
No when the devil says to lie, steal and cheat. No when he tempts you to gossip. NO when he wants to get
you into fear instead of standing in faith. No when he whispers in your ear to do anything contrary to the Word
of God.
I think it is a great revelation - that if we do our part - submit to and obey God, and withstand the devil's wiles -
we can make the devil shun us, run away from us and vanish out of a situation in our life!
What great good news!
