There is a game called, "Trivial Pursuit" that tests a person's memory of current and past
events.  It can be a fun game, showing how much you've retained over the years - of trivial
things.  While it is OK to play it as a game, it is very dangerous to do this in your spiritual life.

It is very easy to become tangled up in the things of this life.  You can be tooling along then
suddenly look up and realize that it has been days since you read your Bible, much less spent
any time talking to and worshipping God.  If you don't watch it, you'll let so much time go by
choices that are not in your best interest.  You'll be exhausted all the time or find yourself in a
mess that God would loved to have kept you out of!

Ever said, "I just don't have time to spend a lot of time with God, reading my Bible, praying.  My
life is so busy.  I'll do it later."

LATER IS HERE.  God is saying to you, "You don't have time not to spend time with Me."
SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE.

There was a restaurant in Houston that had been there for four decades.  It was wiped out by
a fire during the latest hurricane (Ike) because the wind kept the firemen from getting water to
it.  I am sure the people who owned the restaurant and the people who worked there were not
aware that they would be unemployed and lose a business in less than 24 hours.  I am pretty
sure they were totally unprepared for that possibility.

Yet God wants to make you aware of what is coming and tell you how to deal with it.

Two weeks ago, God spoke to my heart to sell some stocks and bonds, and put the money in
the money market account.  Understand - I know nothing about stocks and bonds so I (note
the emphasis) decided that it didn't make sense and ignored it.

That thought came to me several times during that 2 weeks (God IS merciful) and I finally (!)
decided it must be God and did what He said.  Yes, some of us have to be hit upside the head
with a baseball bat to pay attention (smile).  Last Monday, some of the companies went
bankrupt.  God loved me so much that He prepared for this and put out a warning two weeks
prior to the announced bankruptcy.

BUT if I hadn't spent any time with God, I would not have been able to hear His voice at all.
Hearing His voice clearly is dependent on the amount of time spent with Him and in His Word.
If I had spent more time, I wouldn't have doubted that He was speaking to me the first few times
and would have saved some money.  You can bet your boots I changed up some things in my
life after Monday morning.

If you are too busy for God, YOU ARE TOO BUSY.  If you will sit down and study what you are
doing with your time, you will discover that you are doing some things God did NOT tell you to
do.  Why?  Because God hungers for your time and He will always ensure you have enough
time to spend some with Him.
