The other day, my son was moving some big rocks for me and smashed his finger. It was
already turning black under the fingernail when he came into the house. We prayed for it,
asking God to heal him and for the pain to abate. The next day he showed me his fingernail
and it was no longer black - glory to God!
My son has a solid grip on God's healing. It is one area of the gospel he has developed a
strong faith in because it is how we operated his entire life - praying and believing God for
healing. Anytime he does not feel good, he either asks us to pray with him or prays himself. It
isn't even anything he thinks much about - he just does it, almost as a habit.
Most Christians can have strong faith in an area such as healing. But it is also possible that
they are weak in other faith areas such as walking in love, believing God for finances, giving, or
the like.
One poll I heard about said the #1 reason people go up for prayer in church is finances.
Obviously there are a lot of Christians out there whose faith is not strong in the area of
finances. This ought not to be! Jesus paid a very heavy price for our freedom. That freedom
is to include every area of life - relationships, our health, safety, provision, finances, and
protection!
Money is just a tool. It is totally worthless until it is exchanged for goods and services. To God,
it is a way to spread the gospel since, on earth it takes money to do that. Take jets for
instance. You might hear people getting upset when a ministry has a jet to go to meetings yet
it is also just a tool - a way to get around from place to place - FASTER. The more places a
ministry can go, the more people hear the good news! It takes money to purchase that jet, so
it is something we need to have, in abundance in order to give into good-ground ministries!
The point I'm making today is this: if you find you are strong in one area of the gospel but
weak in another, build your faith up in the weak area! Say the weak area is finances - get into
the Bible and faith-based books, CD's, tapes, DVD's, MP3 downloads - and study specifically
about finances. The more you hear what God has to say about finances, the stronger your
faith will get about finances. Same thing with healing - study about healing.
It is vital in the time we are living in to be well-rounded in our faith. Faith comes by hearing the
Word of God (Romans 10:17). Hearing (reading/seeing) also implies understanding that Word
and applying it to your life.
God's people have the ability to walk in total victory in every area of their lives - and should at
least do better than the world people are doing! Be honest with yourself about where you are
strong and where you are weak when it comes to your faith - then get out there and build it up!
