Edition #08-27
Many times people ask, "Does God really get involved in the little details in our lives?"

meet the man God had for me.  He went on to say many things that he could have never known
were important to me.  He even said that God told him to tell me that I was not to tell anyone about
the relationship.

That sure sounded strange - until I met Leland at work.  He was a contractor who came in on
occasional work assignments while I was a permanent employee.  Our business frowned on people
dating who worked in the same office - thus we couldn't tell anyone we were dating.  THAT is pretty
specific but it gets even better.

Leland told me that someone had told him two weeks before he met me that he was getting ready
to meet someone with an 11 year old boy who needed him.  My son had just turned 11.  We were
beginning to realize something special was going on between us - but it gets even better.

One day I was driving home from work and God told* me to go by Hallmark and pick out a card that
said, "I love you" and keep it until it was time to give it to Leland.  I did this; then put the card in a
drawer when I got home.

That evening, Leland came over to the house, walked straight into the living room, got down on one
knee and proposed to me (I later learned he had NO idea he was going to do that - he just did it).
When I said yes, he was so shocked, he didn't believe me.  He kept asking me if I was sure (we'd
only been dating 3 weeks by that time).  He just could not believe that I loved him or would marry
him.  I said, "Hold on a minute" got the card, and gave it to him.  I told him the story behind it - and
he finally believed me.  That was 14+ years ago.

THAT is how much God loves us and wants to be involved in our lives.

*I don't mean I heard an audible voice; it was an impression, a thought.)
