Several years ago I heard one of my favorite ministers make this statement, “If bread goes up to $5 a loaf, God
will bring you $5.50 if you will believe Him for it!” This was in the mid-1980’s so the thought of a loaf of bread
costing that much could have seemed ridiculous.
For some reason, that line stuck in my mind and I never forgot it. It was so profound to me because I was a
single parent, on my own financially, trusting God for everything. I latched on to that saying and reminded myself
that whatever the world could come up with, God was going to top it.
I discovered another profound thing: I could trust God with everything and He would always come through,
ALWAYS. No matter what I needed, God provided.
So here we are, 20-something years later and gasoline is creeping up to $4+ a gallon and can go up to $5 a
gallon. Grocery prices are predicted to rise by at least 4 percent and some say as much as 30 percent. Now
that statement I learned becomes even more profound.
It doesn't matter how high gasoline prices go - God will always bring you more if you believe Him for it. It doesn't
matter how much groceries cost - God will always bring you more if you will believe Him for it. It doesn't matter
how many people can't find jobs - God will always bring you one if you believe Him for it. It doesn't matter what
the world tosses at you - God will always help you be that overcomer He says you already are - IF YOU BELIEVE
HIM FOR IT.
That last line is your part - believe God to do what He promised you. It is far too late to tell me God won't take
care of me in every area of life. I've already discovered He will provide for everything we need - if we believe for
Him for it. He has come through in every area of my life - groceries, homes, cars, bills, gasoline, etc., over and
above all I can ask or think, every time.
Remember what the Bible says: ALL things are possible to him or her who believes (Mark 9:23). Don't limit God:
ALL means ALL and includes ALL, even gasoline and groceries!
So if gasoline goes up to $5 a gallon, God will bring you $5.50! Why the extra 50 cens? Why, to tithe, of course!!
BELIEVE GOD! It is vital in these last days because He is your only source of supply - but oh boy, is He a great
One! He always comes through.
