JoyUs Musing
Edition #6

Another important factor to being Spirit-led is spending time in the Word of God (Bible).

This whole musing can be summed up as this:  we have to renew our minds to the Word of God in order to begin to
operate and think like Him.  In other words, if we don't read our Bible, we won't know how He thinks or how He operates.
Romans 12:2 (and other scriptures) show us the way to know God's will for our life - change our thinking to line up with
His thinking.

Oftentimes people neglect reading the Word for other things such as spending a lot of time on the floor, crying out to
God over issues facing them.  It isn't bad to spend time in His presence this way.  I recommend spending time in His
presence, on our faces, nose to the carpet.  It is humbling.

I just don't recommend spending time on the floor trying to get answers to questions.  Why?  Because He has already
given us all the answers we'll ever need in the Bible, the Word of God.  Time can be spent on the floor but if we will
spend more time reading His Word, we'll find the answers out much quicker!

I'll even be so bold as to say that a Spirit-led Christian should never be on the floor begging God for answers.  He says
we have an anointing and know all things (1 John 2:20).  Anointing here simply means that God will furnish what is
needed.  We will also find that if we spend time in His Word (commandments) that we will have favor and good
understanding with God and man (Proverb 3:1-4).

I heard a minister say it this way:  A begging Christian is a doubting Christian.  If we are begging, we aren't in faith.  If
we are in faith, we aren't begging.  It may sound harsh but we have promises that He will always take care of us and
always be with us.

People want to know, "How can I know God's voice?  How can I know it is Him talking to me?"  I always answer, "When
your mother called you on the telephone did she always have to say, 'Hi, this is Eddie Cook, your mother?'"  The
answer is no.  You don't need her to tell you her name because you recognized her voice.  You have had fellowship or
relationship with her.  You've spent enough time talking with your mother that you KNOW her voice.

It's the same with God.  Being Spirit-led can be as simple as spending more time with our nose in the Bible!  The more
time we spend in the Bible, the easier it will be to hear and recognize His voice.  We really can't know God's voice if we
don't spend time reading His Word.  Why?  Because the Word is who He is so it is also His voice (John 1).  We can't
really be Spirit-led if we don't recognize the voice talking to us!!

Spend time in the Word of God today.  You will find you hear God's voice more clearly as time goes by - and that's vital
to being Spirit-led!
