JoyUs Musing
Edition #3
I heard a minister say this the other day:  "It isn't good enough just to hear the Word of God.  You must be a doer."  You must
with the word "hearken".

Musing where I told you I would deal with the word pleasure?  Remember, I also mentioned the phrase, "if they obey" from
Job 36:11?

Those three little words  are what may keep many Christians from receiving all the benefits Jesus died on the cross to give
them.  God's love is automatic and it is unconditional.  The promises (or benefits), on the other hand, are conditional.  Often
the promise requires something from you.

It could be as simple as Luke 6:38, "Give, and it shall be given unto you."  Notice nothing is given to you until you first give.
Mark 11 is more serious - it says you have to forgive before you can be forgiven.  If you don't forgive others, God can't
forgive you.  I didn't say He wouldn't, I said He couldn't.  There are set Laws in the Bible that have to be obeyed.

Let's look at Job 36:11, "If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures."
The meanings of the word pleasure is to pass in beauty, be delight, be pleasant, be sweet.  Doesn't that sound wonderful?
Who wouldn't want to live their life like this?

But look at the qualifier - you qualify for a life of prosperity and pleasure by obeying God and serving Him.  This means with
your whole heart, not part-time and not partial obedience.

Check your heart today and see if there are any areas you might need to go in and fix!  It isn't hard - just see what the Bible
says about it, then make up your mind you will do what it says.  If you blow it, just repent (which is to simply ask God to forgive
you for your wrong choice; to change your mind and direction; to have a change of heart.  Repentance does not mean, "I'm
sorry" - it is an action, you have to do something - or stop doing something!

Until next time, why not dig out your Bible and look at these great promise scriptures:
Psalm 16:8-11; Psalm 35:27 (really good); Psalm 36:8; Psalm 149:4.  In a lot of the New Testament scriptures, the word
pleasure means will - as in God's will.  It will take a word study to find comparable words.  Next week will see what other
benefits we have!
