goodness!

EDITION #1 - GOODNESS

"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man who trusts in Him." (Psalm 34:8)

I remember one time my pastor’s wife grabbed my hand and prayed that I would see how much God loved me – to have a
week of His overflowing goodness.  She felt I just didn’t know.

It happened to be the week of my birthday.  That became one of the most amazing weeks I ever experienced in my entire life.
People brought gifts, they brought cards expressing what they liked about me, and they brought cakes.  Some people didn’t
even know it was my birthday – they just picked that week to express their gratitude to me.  Each one told me that God spoke
to their heart to do what they did for me.

I began to learn how much God loved me and how much He wanted to express that love toward me.  I learned a lesson that
week that I never forgot – GOD IS GOOD and He wants to bring His goodness into our lives in a very tangible way.

God does not want His goodness to be a theory or a high-minded ideal.  He wants it to be real.  He wants His goodness to be
something we have in our lives every day.  He wants to be our provider and our source of everything good.

Right from the beginning in Genesis 1 you learn that everything God did or made was good.  He created the world and
everything in it, including mankind, and proclaimed it GOOD.  That even means you and me – we are very good in God’s
eyes.

Genesis 1:31:  And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.

If you don’t know God is good, and only good, you will attribute all the tough, ugly and bad things in life as being from Him.
So many times we were taught that God is the author of bad things as well as good things.  Nothing could be farther from the
truth.

In 1 John 1:5 it states, “God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.”

There is no obscurity, no shadiness; there is nothing hidden in God.  He can’t generate darkness because He is light.

If you walk into a dark room and light a single, small candle, the room will no longer be dark.  Light dispels darkness.  Light
and darkness cannot exist in the same place at the same time.

It is the same with God.  He cannot be light and dark.  He cannot be good and bad.  He can’t bring good things and bad
things into our life.  He only is good and brings good to us.

Wouldn’t you love to consistently “taste and see” God’s goodness in your life?  He is waiting to show you how much He loves
you in very real ways.

As we continue our Joyus Musings, we will begin to learn about His goodness and specific ways He wants to express it in your
life!
